TRIBUTES

“Painting is the language I use to communicate my thoughts and feelings...

I use color, form and composition to convey feelings ranging from excitement to serenity.

I am not trying to produce an accurate replica of the scene or subject I am painting, but rather spark in the observer the emotions I felt when I saw or thought about the place or subject.

My goal is to deeply touch the viewer and perhaps awaken an emotion of long ago. I invite you to share in a bit of my world and view my work ...”

 - Marilyn A. Olsen

An Artist’s work is often a collage of life’s memories and experiences. Whether it be the blessings of family, the warm, vibrant flavors of America’s Southwest, the energy of New York City, the simple intricacies of nature, the beauty of the arts or a battle against Multiple Sclerosis - each can be experienced in the work of Marilyn A. Olsen.

A NYC native, Marilyn attended the School of Visual Arts, received a Bachelors degree from Pace University and a Masters degree from the City University of New York. Her love for the Southwest developed as a child. Her grandmother who lived in Arizona encouraged Marilyn’s enthusiasm for sketching the beautiful landscape.

Marilyn's body of work has appeared in New York City at the Lever House, GE Tower 570, McMillan Publishing, and Salmagundi.  Marilyn also had contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society calendar, solo and group exhibitions, and her works appear in private collections across the United States.

Pastels for Book

Unfinished, it was a collaboration for a children's book about relationships and differences featuring a cat and dog.
